Carroll County Cannons

Minor League Football Team

Watch for opportunities to meet the Cannons as they involve themselves in community events.

2007

Carroll County Foster Kids Day

***Members of the Cannons participated in the annual "Kids Day" which is for kids who have been recently or still looking to be adopted by loving families. The players and coaches participated in organizing a "pick up" football game.

"Santa Bowl I"  December 7, 2007

***The Cannons and the Baltimore Bulls got together on a cold day in front of a couple of hundred fans to a OT thriller where the Cannons fell 27-21. Most importantly the Cannons were able to completely fill a van full of new toys for the US Marines Reserves "Toys for Tots" Program.

2008

***The Cannons donated $250 in May when the Cobras came to visit for a regular season game to a member of the Calvert County Cobras who received a injury during a football game which left him partially paralyzed during their game with the Howard County Nightmare.

***Cannons Donate School Supplies to Kids

In the continuing effort to support the community. The Cannons donated much needed school supplies to the Westminster Police Department which was then given out to needy kids in and around Westminster. There was a picnic at Dutterer's Park in Westminster with Police Officers, K-9 Demos, Bike Officers, a clown and the SWAT Vehicle. Food was provided by Chick-Fil-A and Cannons sponsor Five Guys Burgers. Approximately 50 kids were on hand to receive their supplies and when their group was called someone would help the kids pick out their school supplies with them.
After each child had their own book bag with supplies. Mentors were then given a list in order to put together more book bags full of supplies which would be distributed to other Westminster area schools. Chris Welker, Jenn Welker and John Welker were on hand to help put back packs with school supplies together.  " This is just another way to for us to give back to the community that has supported us" said team owner John Welker
One of the more memorable moments there was when the Westminster Chief of Police asked the kids how many of them knew we had a semi pro football team in which a lot of the kids screamed out "Cannons". This only goes to show that we are getting the name out there and making a difference in the community.
